Visa Signature Card targets diaspora, importers, and international travellers; FirstBank named Nigeria's strongest brand

First Bank of Nigeria has launched a multi-currency Visa Signature Card in partnership with Visa, enabling holders to hold and transact in naira, US dollars, euros, and British pounds sterling from a single card, a product aimed directly at Nigerians who travel internationally, conduct cross-border business, or regularly transact in foreign currencies.

The card is designed to reduce friction for international transactions by eliminating the need for separate foreign currency accounts or Bureau de Change purchases for routine dollar, euro, or pound spending. The naira debit card component handles domestic transactions simultaneously.

The product arrives as Nigeria's CBN has tightened rules on diaspora remittances and IMTO transactions, requiring all inbound dollar transfers to settle in naira from May 1. For Nigerians with dollar income or multi-currency business needs, the FirstBank Visa Signature Card offers a regulated, bank-issued vehicle for managing foreign currency exposure without relying on the parallel market.

FirstBank was simultaneously named Nigeria's strongest brand in the 2025/2026 Brand Finance Nigeria 25 ranking, ahead of all other financial institutions and corporates evaluated, reflecting the bank's sustained market trust following its recapitalisation and digital transformation.
